Love Your Heart


February is National Heart Health Month. Heart disease is still the number one killer of men and women in the United States. Every year, 1 in 4 deaths are caused by heart disease. People tend to think of heart disease as more prevalent in men, but the American Heart Association says that heart disease kills “one woman every 80 seconds - more than all forms of cancer combined.” The good news? Most heart disease can be prevented! Take Charge of Your Heart Health

  • Be Active. Try to get a minimum of 150 minutes of physical activity a week. Just start - it all counts. Your heart will thank you. Join us for Fitness Fusion or Healing Yoga for a great way to get those heart healthy minutes in.

  • Eat healthy. Even small changes make a difference.

  • Quit smoking. Tobacco use damages every organ in your body, including your heart.

  • Know your numbers. High blood pressure and cholesterol can damage your heart and blood vessels. Regular screening will tell you if you need to take action. Free screenings are available monthly after our morning class.

  • Take your Meds. Taking your medicine as prescribed is important for managing & controlling your health.

  • Manage Stress. Stress, especially long-term stress can lead to heart disease. Help keep stress under control by getting physically active and through meditation. Both Fitness Fusion and Healing Yoga will help you keep stress at bay.
