So excited to read about UCSD Moores Cancer Center leading the way on experimental immune-system therapy for cancer that is showing very promising results including eradicating tongue cancer for famous drummer Rikki Rockett! According to a UT article most people don't know what cancer immunotherapy is. With his successful result, Rockett is trying to get the word out. He underwent treatments including a "checkpoint inhibitor," drug that removes a defense used by cancers against the immune system. Cancer touches everyone's life in one way or another - I'm really rooting for success with this approach enabling our own immune systems to do the job over chemo and other traditional approaches.
